Web2PDF (the "Extension") is developed by Shenzhen Huozifang Software Studio. We understand the importance of privacy and are committed to minimal, transparent data handling. This page explains clearly how the Extension collects, uses, and protects your information.
Core promise: The Extension does not collect the content of the web pages you browse, nor the content of the PDF/EPUB files you generate. Parsing, rendering, and generation for web-to-PDF/EPUB all happen locally in your browser.
When you actively use the cloud upload or share-link features, files are transmitted as you direct—to the cloud service you choose or to our sharing server. See Section 4 for details.
To provide core functionality, the Extension stores the following locally in your browser:
This data is stored on your device via chrome.storage.local and is not sent to our servers.
When the Extension sends a request to our licensing service, it includes a set of runtime environment information to confirm license validity and enforce the "up to 5 browsers" device limit described in Section 1.2 of the Terms of Service:
This information does not include the addresses of pages you visit, page content, PDF/EPUB content, or browsing history, and is not used to track your behavior across sites.
To maintain license status in the same browser, the Extension writes a cookie named <extensionID>_install_info under the web2pdf.webext.store domain, storing the installation ID and license status. This cookie is used solely for license verification, contains no page content, and you can clear it at any time via your browser settings.
Pro purchases are completed through the third-party payment processor Paddle. Paddle collects your email, name, billing address, VAT number (if applicable), and payment information to complete the transaction. We do not store your full payment information on our own servers; we only receive the order and license status provided by Paddle to activate and restore your authorization.
Paddle's handling of your personal information is governed by its own privacy policy.
When an exception occurs while the Extension is running, error information is automatically sent to our servers to help diagnose and fix issues. Reports include:
We do not use this for user profiling or behavioral analysis. If a stack trace happens to contain technical information such as a page address, it is used solely to troubleshoot. This is diagnostic data for our own functionality and does not involve any third-party analytics or advertising services.
To keep improving the product, the Extension records click counts for feature buttons. These records help us understand how features are used and whether they work as expected, and guide feature decisions and improvements.
If you do not want such statistics collected, you can uninstall the Extension from your browser's extension management page and no further reports will be sent. To delete records already collected, contact us at the email in Section 10.
The core function of the Extension is converting the current web page to PDF/EPUB (article generation and full-page save). To support this, the Extension requests the following browser permissions. Each serves a specific feature need and follows the principle of least privilege:
In addition, the Extension requests the following site access permissions, which apply only when you use the corresponding feature:
The Extension does not access your browsing history or private data from other websites.
All processing for web-to-PDF/EPUB (HTML parsing, rendering, PDF/EPUB generation) is performed locally on your device. The Extension contains no remote scripts, analytics trackers, ads, or third-party statistics SDKs.
When you use the cloud upload feature, PDF/EPUB files are transmitted directly over encrypted HTTPS to the cloud service you authorized (Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, or WebDAV). The Extension does not relay or retain your files.
Apart from the licensing environment information in Section 1.2, the sharing feature in Section 4, and cloud uploads you initiate, the Extension does not send any data to external servers.
When you actively use the "Share Link" feature:
Shared files are used only to deliver content to the recipients you specify. We do not use them for any other purpose, do not use them to train AI models, and do not sell or provide them to third parties.
The Extension contains no third-party analytics tools, advertising, or third-party user tracking systems. We collect only the licensing environment information required for our own functionality (Section 1.2), error diagnostics (Section 1.5), and feature usage statistics (Section 1.6), and do not use them for user profiling, advertising, or cross-site behavioral tracking.
When you actively use the relevant features, the Extension connects directly to the official APIs of the following third-party services:
We do not route data between you and these services through any intermediary server.
You have full control over your data:
If you need our help deleting server-side records related to your license, contact us at the email in Section 10.
The Extension's use of Google APIs complies with the Google User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements:
The use of raw or derived user data received from Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically:
The Extension is not directed to children under 13 and does not intentionally collect personal information from minors. If we discover that such information was collected inadvertently, we will delete it promptly after verification.
If this Privacy Policy needs to change due to feature updates, we will notify you via the Chrome Web Store listing and an in-extension popup. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or need to exercise your data rights, please contact us at:
We will respond within a reasonable time.
In one sentence: Web2PDF follows a "local-first" principle—your web page content never leaves your device. Only when you actively use the cloud or sharing features are files transmitted as you direct to the corresponding service, subject to clear retention limits. Thank you for your trust.
